After a break, I have started painting again. I just need to realize that circumstances will never be perfect. Besides, I believe that whatever art is better than no art at all. I can’t let the AI bots have all the fun.

What inspired me this week:

Renoir dir. Chie Hayakawa

Renoir captures what it’s like being a sad middle schooler who likes to do magic tricks for her friends.

Backrooms dir. Kane Parsons

I am one of the people who is very impressed that a 20-year-old was able to pull this off.

MADDADDAM

I crossed off a summer bucket list item: going to a ballet with 6 friends. However, it was actually with 5 friends. But, shouldn’t we be a friend to ourselves? Anyways, the ballet had darker themes than I thought. The physicality of dancers is something to behold. They manipulate their bodies into extreme positions, and they make it look easy.

Baby Blue Benzo Beta by Sara Cwynar

This is a current exhibit on the 2nd floor of the MOCA. I am very compelled by the film. I was pleasantly surprised by the Charli XCX needle drop. There was an audible gasp of recognition from the crowd.

You Look So Sad for a Girl So In Love by Olivia Rodrigo

I really like this album from Rodrigo. I wasn’t that compelled by her 2nd album, but this album hits for me.

Pop2 by Charli XCX

The Charli XCX needle drop in Cwynar’s film was Porsche. Thank God because I am reminded of this amazing album. The collaborations are next level: Caroline Polachek, Pablo Vittar, and of course, Carly Rae Jepsen.
