my way
as leisurely as possible
Hello you,
I am feeling frustrated by my slow pace. I am trying to find the balance between rest and pushing myself. So far, inconsistency is its own beast that I’m trying to tame. The heat makes me overdramatic. I am just going to let myself believe that everything happens in its own divine timing.
What inspired me this week:
Death Cab for Cutie
Death Cab for Cutie has existed since forever. After a quick scan of their Wikipedia page, they actually started in 1997 and had their chart-topper album Transatlanticism in 2003. They have been showered with accolades ever since.
I am a big fan of the song: I will follow you into the dark. I don’t remember when I first heard this song, but it’s incredible to witness live. The crowd, including me, has committed these lyrics to heart. Death Cab also did another verse for those addicted to their phones and want a video of him singing that last verse. As someone with a phone addiction, I appreciate his thoughtfulness on that.
Japanese Breakfast
I have seen JB live before in her own concert last year! I loved seeing them with Annie and Em. We still claim that she waved at us in a moment of fangirling. This time around she was opening for Death Cab, and she’s JPreggy. I’ve been a fan of JBrekkie before Michelle published Crying in H Mart around the time of Soft Sounds from Another Planet. It’s wonderful to witness her growth as an artist and as an individual. Let her hit the gong!
Odyssey
Odyssey is the epic of Odysseus finding his way back to his family after winning the Trojan War.
I can’t stop thinking of a high-budget version of The Iliad or The Song of Achilles after watching this.
Hadestown
Hadestown is about the fate of lovers, Orpheus and Eurydice. This musical is set in a dystopian world where winter rules and other seasons don’t occur. With Eurydice’s encouragement, Orpheus brings Persephone back from the underworld with his unfinished song. Chaos occurs when Persephone gets brought back to the underworld too soon. Winter creeps back in. What will Orpheus do? Finish his song?
I have been eagerly waiting for the pro shot of Hadestown. It exceeded my expectations!
